On the 28th of March 2009, the Spinworkx store turned off its lights for an hour from 8:30pm to 9:30pm, in efforts to show our support against global warming by participating in Earth Hour.

Due to safety concerns with the flow of yo-yo players moving in and out of the store, only one light was left on while the television, display shelves and the rest of the lights were turned off.

Spinworkx would like to thank all the yo-yo players who participated with us in this small event as well as Alex Yao, who took the trouble to assist the shop during the one hour of (almost) complete darkness.

We hope that by participating in Earth Hour, we can all create more awareness of the increasing importance of saving our environment.

As Prevously mentioned, our brave souls have been traveling around the globe (what lucky people they are) capturing clips and videos of Duncan Crew Worldwide for the 80th Anniversary of Duncan Toys! On the 18th of February, after traveling through Europe down to Hong Kong, our celebrity players finally stop by Singapore to meet with the crew!

Spinworkx is at it again! Bringing yo-yoing into our schools, the Spin Academy will be conducting its Spinner-1 course once more at Elias Park Primary School!

This week, the Spinworkx performance crew will be down at Woodlands right outside the Causeway Point performing at the Singapore Customs Anti-Contraband road show on the 21st and 22nd of March.

Though the location was blazing hot, our four amazing rock stars managed to pull quite a crowd from the people who were passing by. Children were also roped into the performances and received gifts for their participation!

If you would like to hang out with our yoyo stars this weekend, do drop by the Causeway Point entrance near the Woodlands MRT tomorrow noon (22nd March) to catch them in action!

This year, the Singapore Yo-Yo Championships 2009 (SYYC) is proud to part of the Singapore Street Festival which will be held from the 23rd of May to the 14th of June.

It is our second year running together with the festival and we are excited to be part of a larger entity that shares the same goals that we at Spinworkx shares as well!

Last Tuesday at The Scape Labs where last year’s Asia Pacific Yo-Yo Championships 2008 After-Party was held, 4 icons of the local yo-yo scene made their way down at 9 in the morning to dazzle the crowd during the press launch of the Singapore Street Festival.

With their amazing charisma and talented skills, Qingwen, Jun Jie, Cheng and Alex managed to wow the crowd with their array of amazing tricks, consisting of the 4 styles of yo-yo play which other contestants will be competing on the day of the competition.

Don’t worry if you are new and afraid to compete head to head with the pros, we will be having other exciting contests which you can join and stand a chance to win yourself a prize!

So keep tabs on this webpage and we shall reveal more details of this contest as it nears its competition date!
