Today, we take a closer look at this yo-yo which features an ingenius innovation that changed the way we look at smart yo-yo designs of the 21st century.

The FAST yo-yo became regarded as one of the biggest innovations in basic yo-yo response systems since the Proyo Brake Pad Technology that made it big in 1998. Sporting an old school starburst system with a refreshing twist, the FAST 201 promises beginners the performance of a high-speed ball bearing yo-yo, without the necessary hassle of having to constantly replace ones response system.
As seen in the picture above, the FAST system is an entire rig that runs round the entire yo-yo, with the starburst built separately from the yo-yo’s body. Weight rings are cleverly set in place to add spin time while securing the FAST response system so that it doesn’t fall off during difficult tricks.
The FAST 201 comes with a stainless steel ball bearing for long-lasting play
Like most Proyos and Duncans, the FAST 201 came with the basic spacer and bearing setup seen here. The stainless steel bearing, which is a one up from the regular bearings that came in the bumblebees, allowed long lasting play without the threat of rust when kept.
For more response, turn the starbursts to face each other directly.
The FAST 201 comes with 3 setups, one fully tightened all the way in for maximum response, one slightly opened with its teeth facing each other, and the last with it’s teeth staggered so as to provide a lower response with a longer sleep time.
A staggered starburst response allowed for longer sleep times thanks to a lower response.
This setup allowed beginners to “fine tune’ their yo-yo to suit their style of play, making it the cheapest beginner’s plastic ball bearing yo-yo that had a reliable response that did not need to be replaced from time to time.
The FAST 201 manual that comes with maintenance instructions as well as the 10 basic tricks.
As always, a good basic yo-yo should come with a good basic manual to get started with, and the FAST 201 delivers. With clear instructions as well as a short illustration of the 10 basic FAST challenge tricks, the manual allows your average beginner to slowly pick up the skills necessary to move on to much harder stuff.
In the package, you get your FAST 201 yo-yo, an instruction manual, and an extra piece of string.

This yo-yo is a great basic beginner’s yo-yo for those seeking to learn basic to advance level tricks, and unlike some of its other competition, it doesn’t need replaceable response pads to keep it playable.

There’s no best, and it depends on what you like and what you are comfortable with, some people think a $25 is the best while others feel they need a $200 yo-yo to be good, it’s really up to the individual.

There are many long spinning yo-yos, what you’re looking for is one that has good rim weight in order to spin long, other than that, you need to practice on your throw.

Hi Kolo,
Spin times vary from how well you throw the yo-yo. Generally the FAST 201 is not as long a sleeper as the Lyn Fury Freehand Zero or Hitman etc.

Yes you can, but then there’s no need to invest KonKave bearings on the 201, save it for a higher end advance yo-yo, like the Velocity, Freehand Zero etc.

Butterfly shaped yo-yos are generally not meant for looping. You will need an imperial or modified shape for loops.

If it’s spoilt, then you might want to look for old yo-yos that you have to see if you got the screw to replace it.
The FAST 201 is a responsive yo-yo, it’s not meant to be unresponsive.

Gold editions were limited in 2006.
There used to be a FAST 401K, it was made of metal, you can google it. =)
